Top 5 SNES RPG Games

Number 1: Chrono Trigger

Chrono Trigger is definitely my favorite SNES RPG. It has one of the sweetest characters ever in any game (Magus, of course) and features a moving storyline that includes time travel to various eras. This feature allows for various settings, from prehistoric to futuristic. Combat features combo attacks with 2 or even all 3 of your characters. Chrono Trigger is one of the most unique games I've ever played. And who doesn't love a game with a broadsword-wielding frog?

Number 2: Secret of Mana

This is another action-oriented title. The gameplay is fast-paced and very entertaining, and was one of the few that you can play multiplayer on. I loved the style and humor that were put into this game, not to mention the beautiful (for the time) graphics. Secret of Mana only has 3 playable characters, but each one has different strengths and weaknesses. And this is another game whose story is a really great adventure. It was really hard for me to choose not to put this one at the top of the list.

Number 3: Final Fantasy III

Final Fantasy III probably has one of the best storylines in any game ever. You are first introduced to Terra, the last living human who can use magic. She is being hunted by the Empire. From these beginnings, an epic and often very moving story is spun. This game has some of the best graphics on the SNES, and some of the best music as well, featuring different themes for many characters. This game features a whopping 14 playable characters, every one of which is developed during the game.

Number 4: Final Fantasy II

This installment in the Final Fantasy line, also known as FF5, is a classic SNES RPG. While it lacks some of the refinements of later titles in this series, it's still a great game. It was responsible for introducing many of the elements that are common in many RPGs today. This one was later re-released for the GBA, so you can pick up this title for either system.

Number 5: Seiken Densetsu 3

This game was originally only available in Japanese, but an English translation was made by a gamer and released onto the Internet. This is a great game with action-oriented gameplay (as opposed to turn-based, like many of these RPGs). The story depends on which of the 6 characters you choose as your main character at the beginning of the game. No matter which character you choose though, the story revolves around saving the world by releasing the power of the eight Mana stones. I won't reveal any more of the story, in case you haven't played this one yet, but trust me, it's worth it.

Top Tank Games

Tanks

This is a great battle tanks game. First choose your terrain and number of players. Type in your name and choose a tank colour. If you are a single player make sure you tick the, "computer controlled", box on the player 2 section. Pick a difficulty level and get started.

Basically, this is a turn based tank game where two tanks battle against one another. You have a menu with all the information you need regarding health etc. Also, you have a selector box for choosing the weapons.

When you have pass each level you go to a screen where you can buy more weapons and accessories with the points you scored. Plenty of war games fun to be had here.

Nano Tank

Here is a superb online tank game a little bit different from your standard blow em up tank game. It's probably more puzzle based and doesn't involve any battles.

Each level has a task that requires completing for you to get your tank to the next level.
One of the best free online tank games.

Big Battle Tanks

This is similar in game play to the game, "Tanks", but with different graphics and some fun cool new weapons to use.
Another great tank game online.

Extreme Tank Wars

This is a simple little tank game that requires no skills. With your given tank just shoot your way around the screen.

The music is a bit irritating and cannot be turned off without the basic tank sounds shutting off as well. Not a problem for those who love rock music!
A battle tanks game at it's easiest.

Crusader Tank

Total war games fun.Get to the end of the level destroying as many enemy units on your way as possible.
This is a fun battle tanks game designed arcade style. More irritating music though.

Indestructo Tank

A strange tank game but pretty addictive.
Read the instructions before playing this tank game online as it makes the game play more fun.
You have an indestructible tank. Use your armor to destroy the enemy army. The longer you play the more enemies appear at once.

City Under Siege

Choose out of the five difficulty levels and begin.
Your mission is to destroy all tanks and protect your command centre. Little icon bonuses pop up within the game allowing you to pick them up . This makes the game that much more like war games fun.

Tank 2008

Customise your tank and then play each level of the tank game by following the instructions. This is a colourful arcade style game involving shooting and blowing stuff up.

Hover Tanks

An online tank game with a difference.
Start off with choosing from the options menu either Survival mode or Deathmatch mode. You have a choice of eight tanks that all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

In Deathmatch you compete with four other tanks to fight for last tank standing. In Survival you have the eight tanks to choose from again but this time you need to survive for as long as you can while protecting the cargo ships.

The game play is pretty simple with basic controls. You get a first person view from inside the tank and even have your own radar.

UFO:AI is a full computer game with excellent graphics, sound and game play. UFO:AI is inspired by the old X-COM games. And it has the same feel to it. However it is not a clone, copy or bad remake. UFO:AI is it's own.

Abandoned, but not forgotten

Old computer games are sometimes given to the public for enjoyment. This is because the game is old, and the company no longer supports it, or is able to sell it. Sometimes the creators don't even exist anymore. This is called abandonware, as in abandoned software.
Abandonware is usually old DOS games made for 10 year (or more) old hardware. Windows was not a gaming platform then, and many games will not run properly, or at all with Windows XP or Windows Vista. There is a solution to this, called DOSBox (see more below).
If you own an older computer you can use that to play abandonware on. No need to fight the kids for the newest pc in the household.

Steel Battalion - Heavy Armor

Steel Battalion -Heavy Armour will have its own Xbox kinect version of this fighting game in 2011, there are more details to come. Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor will take place in Manhattan of 2082 following the collapse of the computer microchip, which decreased the level of technology on Earth. The United States has lost most of its territory to foreign invaders, and from the stronghold of New York City, the U.S. military is planning a new offensive to take back the country.

Future Kinect Games

We are being told that Forza Motorsport 4 is going to be the "most expansive and vividly realistic automotive experience across any console.", but with the new kinect controller it really is going to be very special, I know they can do it, though. Forza Kinect is due out in fall 2011.
Star Wars will be released in December 2011, then you will be able to fight like Luke Skywalker.
Child of Eden is the multi-sensory shooter that will send you diving into a kaleidoscopic matrix of synchronized music and mind-blowing visuals.This is due out June 14th 2011.

Kinect Shooting Games

There are no kinect shooting games in the intial introduction of Xbox kinect games, but in September 2011 there looks to be one game that may interest you.
That is,Heavy Fire Afghanistan Kinect is due for release September 30th 2011, the first real kinect shooting game.
There is "Steel Battalion - Heavy Armor" and this will have its own Xbox kinect version of this shooting game in 2011, there are very few details at this stage but Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor will take place in Manhattan of 2082. Check out the trailer video below.
It maybe a while before we see a Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or Halo game with kinect.
I have put the video trailers of two possible kinect shooting games , check them out Codename D; this was introduced at the Tokyo Game Show in Japan in 2010 by a manufacturer named Grasshopper. But again very little is known about this game, if you would like to look at the video of codename D.
Project Draco is going to be a kinect only game. Looking at the trailers the game seems to be centered on flying dragons.

Escape The Chestnut Room

Latest version of room escape series from 2keysgames. when Rupert goes on a hunting trip with his friends they decide he was too noisy and lock him in the cabin while they enjoy the rest of their trip, get him out so he can show them he wont accept bein left behind.

- Click to take the letter from the doorjamb. Click twice on it in the inventory to maximize it, click it again to open it. Read it, then click the window closed to close it. Click the minimized letter onto the nail to replace it. Go left.

- Click to take the shotgun from around the deer's neck. Go left.

Hints When Playing Escape Games

Some escape the room games require significant amounts of pixel hunting. being that most escape the room games are Japanese, causing poor hints and otherwise easily solved puzzles to be both confusing and grammatically incorrect.

-a safe usually holds valuable clues
-drawers of desks or dressers or such should be individually searched.
-books on book shelves must be searched for clues.
-mirrors, paints, and any flat surfaces usually have clues on its hidden sides.
-players refer to the the screw driver as SD in their discussions.
-search under the corners of rugs and such for clues or trap doors.
-search under the beds pillows or covers for something that might help.
-cracks between any furniture and walls usually contains keys or clues.
-cushions and pillows could be slashed with a knife to reveal other hidden clues.

Game Concepts

When you play the game you use the mouse cursor to click on objects & they will be kept in you inventory so you can use them to interact with another objects.
once you hover over an item that can be collected or interacted with your mouse cursor will change shape how ever not all escape games work like that.
some escape games doesn't provide hints so once you collect an item in your inventory you should try to use it in various objects that could help you to get out of the room escape games usually contain puzzles that needs to be resolved in order to get out, different puzzle types are used such as jigsaw puzzle, number or color puzzle and sometimes even all those types combined.
in some games you will have to get out of several rooms before you reach the end.

Play Free Facebook Games on an iPad

Using iSwifter to play Facebook Games on an iPad

iSWiFTER is an app you can get for the iPad to play Flash content including Facebook games. It streams flash content to your device from a cloud, so the Flash is running on the cloud and not on your iPad. It's the best workaround I've found so far for playing Flash games on an iPad. Currently, it only works over wi-fi but they have plans for future 3G support.




You can install iSwifter for free, but it's not really a free app. When I first tried iSwifter, it was free to install but it would let you play for 5 minutes and then cut you off. Now it seems they have a 7 day trial. Also, when I purchased iSwifter there was a one time upgrade fee of $2.99. iSwifter has changed to a subscription model where you'll have to pay $2.99 a month to continue using it. I feel lucky I purchased it when I did since I won't have to pay the monthly fee since it switched to the subscription model after I purchased it.






A few of the games I tested using iSwifter that it seemed to work okay with are: Cityville, Gardens of Time, Monopoly Millionaires, Farkle, and Pet Society (although running a race in Pet Society is a little laggy and sometimes it's slow to use the arrow to go to another part of a room). Unfortunately, iSwifter does not work well for playing my favorite Facebook game, Zuma Blitz, on the iPad. The frog would shoot balls in the wrong direction and I also couldn't figure out how to right click to swap to a different colored ball. To effectively play Zuma Blitz on an iPad, I will just have to wait until Popcap makes a Zuma Blitz app for the iPad like they did with Bejeweled Blitz. I have no idea if or when that will happen though. I think that most Facebook games will probably work using iSwifter on the iPad, unless they are fast paced games like Zuma Blitz.




iSwifter does have a few annoyances--it doesn't seem to use cookies so if you use it to play Facebook games, you'll have to login to Facebook each time you open the app (even if you check the box for it to remember you.). It also doesn't remember where you were when you close the app. I was playing a Facebook game and accidently pressed the button on my iPad and the app closed, then when I reopened iSwifter, I had to log in to Facebook again.




You can Bookmark Facebook apps using iSwifter, but I like to go to Facebook first using a secure connection and log in, then I go to the bookmark for the game I want to play.

How to Play Facebook Games on an iPad - Workaround for not having Flash installed on iPad.

Are you wondering how to play Facebook games on an iPad? I sure was. When I got an iPad, I tried playing some of my favorite Facebook games, but they didn't work because they were flash games and iPads don't have a Flash Player installed. Besides the Facebook games that have their own apps, there are a couple workarounds for playing Facebook / Flash games on the iPad, and they of course don't involve Flash running directly on the iPad.

Facebook Game Apps for iPad

The best way to play a Facebook game on an iPad is with an app designed for that game. Some apps for games on Facebook are iPhone apps that you can still play on your iPad. I usually click the 2X button to make them fill up more of the screen even though the graphics don't look their best when doing that. Unfortunately, there are only a few Facebook games that have their own iPad app.




HD Facebook Game Apps for iPad:




FarmVille by Zynga - I hadn't played Farmville in some time, but started playing a little on the iPad because I thought it was awesome they made a Facebook app. The Farmville app for the iPad is free, and I hope that other Facebook game developers will follow suit!






SCRABBLE for iPad - the Scrabble game for the iPad lets you play Scrabble games with your Facebook friends but it costs money ($9.99 last time I checked. I have also seen it on sale for $4.99.) If you want to play Scrabble for free on the iPad against your Facebook friends, then you can install SCRABBLE Free that's made for the iPhone. It won't look as good but at least it's free!






Chess.com - the free chess.com app integrates with Facebook and Chess.com so you can play chess against your Facebook friends. I think I need to watch some of their chess videos first before I'm ready to play.






Non-HD Facebook Game Apps for iPad:






Bejeweled 2 + Blitz - I originally purchased this game for my iPod Touch so I could play Bejeweled Blitz on it and have it connect to Facebook. Now I play it on my iPad (at 2X size) and it's still fun! I think I may be getting better scores playing Bejeweled Blitz on my iPad, but maybe it's just that I have more experience playing it now.






Zynga Poker - This is a free app that you can connect with Facebook to play Zynga Poker on your iOS device. You can have it alert you when your Facebook friends sign on to play.

Using a Remote Desktop App to Play Facebook Games on an iPad

One other workaround that will let you play Facebook games on an iPad is using a remote desktop app. This way, you are remote controlling your desktop computer with your iPad, and the Flash is running on the computer not the iPad.




These are the Remote Desktop Apps I've tried so far: (only one so far--if I try other Remote Desktop apps, I'll update this.)




Splashtop Remote Desktop for iPad - This was easy to get up and running by installing a client on my PC, then my iPad found my computer on the local network and I was able to connect to it after putting in my password. I haven't tried connecting to it outside of the home, or using 3G yet.




I was able to play some Facebook games using Splashtop Remote Desktop, but it wasn't as smooth of an experience as using iSwifter. It could be because my computer is a few years old. I liked that with Gardens of Time (Hidden object game) I was able to zoom in by using two fingers to expand or pinch, as you can't zoom in using iSwifter.
